Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Upsilon Rho Omega Chapter Scholarship - March 17, 2018

On behalf of the Upsilon Rho Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, thank you for your interest in our scholarship! Since 1997, we have proudly supported graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. 

 

Founded January 15, 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by black college-educated women. Our sorority serves local, national and international communities through over 170,000 members in more than 900 chapters. Here in Kansas City, Upsilon Rho Omega promotes and supports youth development through many service efforts.

 

Scholarship applicants must be Kansas City metropolitan area high school seniors who will attend a four-year college or university in the fall semester immediately following their senior year of high school.

 

A completed application packet includes all of the following postmarked no later than

Saturday, March 17, 2018: (Or submitted electronically by 11:59pm Saturday, March 17th)

  • Completed application form
  • Official school transcript in a sealed envelope
  • Typed essays answering two of the three question options.
  • Copy of college acceptance letter
  • Three references (3), at least one of which is from an official at the applicant’s current school
  • A current photo (may be submitted to: AKAUpsilonRhoOmega@gmail.com)

Submissions will receive a notice of award or regret in April. Winners and their families will be invited to an awards reception on Sunday, April 29, 2018, 2pm. Winners (or a family representative) must attend the reception to receive their award. Our scholarship committee chairman will work with winners and their schools to ensure receipt and proper credit to the student’s account.
