12th-GRADERS: The Ashton L. O'Guinn Memorial Scholarship - Applications Available NOW!!!!!

In 2012, Ashton L. O’Guinn was a victim of a senseless homicide; a student enrolled in Metropolitan Community College, preparing himself for a bright and prosperous future. The Ashton L. O’Guinn Memorial Scholarship has been developed to assist students from all walks of life, reach their educational goals. It is the wish of his family and friends that his name live on by helping others achieve their educational goals through this memorial scholarship. Our hope is to plant positive seeds for the future.



Applicants Must Be:

  • Must complete and submit neatly ALL requested and required questions, documentation signatures and essay.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • A Missouri or Kansas Resident at time of application; specifically, Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area generally defined as Cass, Clay, Jackson, Johnson and Platte Counties – Missouri; as well as, Johnson, Leavenworth, Shawnee and Wyandotte Counties - Kansas

  • Must be a current year graduating high school senior or continuing education student (part time or full time status).  Continuing education student is defined as an adult learning that is attempting to complete a degree program or advance their obtained degree.

  • Must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Must be planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.

  • Must demonstrate significant community service involvement above school requirement


Scholarship Outline:

  • Award amount will be given to three recipients in the amount of $500 each.

  • This scholarship will be given continually for up to, but not more than three years to any one participant.

  • The deadline for submission is March 31, 2017.

  • This scholarship is open to anyone with a financial need
