Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel 2017 Scholarship - March 1, 2018 ($1000.00 and multiple book scholarships)

Who: The luncheon has been named in honor and memory of Brother Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel, and Omicron Xi Lambda chapter initiate who dedicated his life to serving the Greater Kansas City community.


What: The Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel Scholarship Program was established to assist graduating high school male seniors with the costs associated with attending a higher educational institution This scholarship fund is an effort of the Omicron Xi Lambda Education Foundation, a 501c3 and funds may be used for tuition, books, or other course related materials.


In order to be eligible for receiving the BCFM scholarship, the recipient must be a graduating high school, male senior at a school in the Grandview/Kansas City metropolitan area. The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be accepted to an accredited university or college within the United States. Participants that have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale may be eligible to participate in the program for a book scholarship (see book scholarship guidelines below).


When: The deadline for applications is March 1, 2018.


Where: Scholarship applications are available on the Scholarship Board.


Why: Recipients of this scholarship will be awarded $1000.00. The recipient(s) must provide proof of acceptance or enrollment for the 2018-2019 academic year at an accredited college or university within the United States. The scholarship will be distributed no later than August 1, 2018 provided that all scholarship eligibilities have been met. If the recipient of the award becomes ineligible, the award will be rescinded and another candidate will be chosen.


Book Scholarships

This year any male high school senior with a 2.5 grade point average or above may also participate in the scholarship program to receive a book scholarship via advertisement sales. An applicant wishing to participate for book scholarship only will need to mark the appropriate box on the application form and a parent/guardian must contact the chairman of the scholarship program to receive the necessary forms. Advertisements have the following costs:

  • $20.00 - Business Card
  • $25.00 - Quarter Page
  • $50.00 - Half Page
  • $100.00 - Full Page

All scholarship participants will receive 50% of their advertisement sales as a book scholarship presented to them at the 2016 BCFM Scholarship Luncheon on June 9, 2018. BCFM Scholarship applicants with a 3.0 or higher will be eligible for additional book scholarship monies via advertisement sales in addition to the $1,000.00 award.
